The Spectacle
This body of work was produced for this exhibition and is a marriage between my previous work as an Archaeological Illustrator and an on-going investigation into fragmentation, layering and perception.
Using technical drawing and collage collated from previous work and old Knowledge books from the 1960s, I explored the contrast between the clinical drawing process of recording evidence and the random placement of imagery and text.
I wanted to highlight The Beaney as an educational environment by exploring the idea of ‘finding’ information from different sources and constructing an artwork from the different items; where knowledge and time of the scattering of objects form an unique narrative within a limited ‘picture plane’.
